All of the information that we collect on this website will never be sold or given to any third party who is not a member of the Association. 

Information we Collect

We collect the following information from members:

This information is made available to all persons who register themselves as former employees (“Alumni”) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  Members are able to restrict access to some of the data fields, but other members must be able to use the information submitted to contact the member in question. If a member terminates his membership, his information will remain on the site unless he requests otherwise.

We collect the following information from all visitors to our website

This latter information is automatically collected from our web server logs and is only used to see who is visiting our website.  This latter information is not saved on our server for a long period. It is not shared with any entity other than the association and its contractors; only used to better serve you.

Cookies

Cookies are tiny data files that Web sites commonly write to your hard drive when you visit them so that they can remember you when you visit or move from one section of the website to another. Our site uses cookies to maintain a user's identity so that the site can be personalized based on user preferences or a user's history.

Third-party Access and Use

Occasionally, we hire third-party service providers to help us provide or improve the services we offer you. Sometimes it is necessary for these providers to have access to the Information we collect about you. In those cases, we take reasonable steps to ensure that these providers do not use or otherwise disclose any Information we collect about you except for the purpose of fulfilling their service obligations to us.

In addition, we share aggregate information about our users with certain third parties. This information shows user activity as a whole rather than on an individual basis and cannot be used to individually identify you. We use aggregated information we collect about users to continue to improve our service for you.

This site contains links to other sites. The Association is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Web sites.



Data Security

The information is protected by requiring that all prospective members fill out a profile providing information about their prior employment at EPA. Once registered, members must sign in with a password. This provides some assurance that the information is not available to non-members.  However, it is not possible to prevent all cheatng or hacking of the site, and under these circumstances, information provided by other members could become available to non-members.

 

 Special Circumstances

The Association may disclose information from users with your permission or in very special circumstances such as (a) when required by law; (b) when necessary to bring legal action against you or someone else who may be violating the Terms of Use/Service or otherwise violating or harming the rights, property or interests of the Association; and (c) when the Association believes it is necessary to prevent fraud or other illegal activity.

Changes to Policy

The Association may change this privacy policy from time to time. The Association will notify you of any such changes by posting notice of the changes on the Association homepage. If you object to any such changes, your sole recourse shall be to cease using the Association Web site. Continued use of the Association Web site following notice of any such changes shall indicate your acknowledgement of such changes and agreement to be bound by the terms and conditions of such changes.
